Nick Barrow

Nick is a European and UK Patent Attorney in our Chemical and Life Sciences team.

Nick specialises in formulating IP strategies and drafting and prosecuting patent applications across a variety of technical fields, including pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, materials, polymer chemistry, chemical processes, consumer devices, and medical devices. He also manages UK, European, and worldwide patent portfolios.

Before joining Venner Shipley, Nick worked for a multinational law firm based in Asia, where he focused on patent prosecution and litigation, IP due diligence, and providing freedom-to-operate opinions to multinational pharmaceutical and petrochemical companies.

Education

Nick graduated from the University of Manchester with a first-class master’s in Chemistry, where he conducted research into the use of azo-compounds in non-linear optics and developed a range of graphene-based membranes for the separation of volatile liquids.

Following this, Nick continued his studies at Queen Mary University of London, where he graduated with a master’s in Management of Intellectual Property. His research projects focused on pharmaceutical and agrochemical patent enforcement.
