Louis Trichard

Profile

Louis is a European and UK Patent Attorney working in the Electronics, Software and Communications team.

Over the course of his career, Louis has had the pleasure of advising and working with a large range of clients from inventors and small start-ups through to multi-national leaders in the high-technology sector. Working within this sector has given Louis a breadth of experience and expertise in UK, European and US patent drafting, filing and prosecution for inventions relating to artificial intelligence, blockchain technologies, cryptography (incl. quantum/post-quantum cryptography), image processing and multimedia, telecommunications systems (incl. 3G-5G standards drafting), medical devices, and many other computer-implemented inventions. He also has experience assisting clients with oral proceedings before the EPO and the “cut and thrust” of numerous contentious matters like EP oppositions and patent litigation.

Louis has a very approachable manner and enjoys getting to know clients and inventors alike.

Education

Louis graduated from the University of Sydney with a BSc degree in Maths/Computer Science, a first class honours BEng degree in Electrical Engineering, and later with a PhD degree in Electrical and Information Technology. He was also a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Yokohama National University in the field of ultra-wideband communications, and has a certificate in Intellectual Property Law from Queen Mary, University of London.
