Darren Hau

Profile

Darren is European and UK Patent Attorney in our AI team working in the Manchester office. Darren specialises in patent matters relating to computer software. In particular, Darren has considerable experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications relating to artificial intelligence and machine learning. In addition, Darren has experience of patent matters in the fields of image and video processing, speech processing, data analysis, business methods and medical applications.

Darren has considerable experience working with a variety of clients of all sizes from large multinationals to universities and SMEs. Darren has substantial experience prosecuting patent applications before the EPO and has experience in the appeal and opposition procedures at the EPO. In addition, Darren has handled patent prosecution in the UK and the US and other jurisdictions around the world.

Education

Darren holds a BSc in Computer Science from the University of Manchester as well as a MPhil in Computer Science from the University of Manchester with research focussing on deep learning with applications to speech and speaker recognition technology.
