Profile
Caroline is a European and UK Patent Attorney with a background in physics.
She works with a range of technical subject matter including medical devices, dental implants, optics, image processing, defence and machine learning. Caroline works with clients from tech start-ups to multinational corporations and her practice encompasses drafting and prosecuting patent applications, and oppositions and appeals.
Caroline has a Diploma in European Patent Litigation from Strasbourg University (CEIPI) and has a particular interest in the Unified Patent Court. Caroline is a member of the CIPA UPC Committee.
Caroline is a specialist in registered designs, with experience in invalidity and appeal proceedings at the EUIPO, and the EU General Court. She advises on the infringement and validity of designs rights, as well as filing registered designs in the UK, Europe and around the world.
Education
Caroline has a degree in Physics (MSci) from UCL, where she achieved awards for best performance in all years.

パゥエルは、電子工学・工学分野の英国・欧州特許弁理士です。業界の経験も持ち、弊所入所前は、大手の多国籍エレクトロニクス企業で研究職に就き、メモリーデバイスの開発を行っていました。ハイテクセクターの幅広い顧客層をカバーし、多くの個人発明家や新興企業、大手の多国籍企業など、英国、ヨーロッパ、日本、アメリカを含む各国の多様な顧客を担当しています。
専門分野は、物理、エレクトロニクス、コンピューターソフトウェアで、また学際的な発明も扱っています。専門技術としては、半導体デバイス、埋め込みシステム、パワーエレクトロニクス、オートモーティブエレクトロニクス、ナノテクノロジー、スピントロニクス、プリンテッドエレクトロニクス、RFIDデバイス、テレコム、コンピューターネットワーク、コンピューターシュミレーション、オプティカルシステム、センサー、医療機器等を含みます。
彼は、欧州特許庁や英国知財財産庁に対しての、特許出願、異議申立、審判請求等を扱っています。また海外の業務にも詳しく、とりわけアメリカ、日本、韓国、中国などで、現地の弁理士を通し随時権利確保を行っています。
また、定期的に企業や大学から知的財産に関する講義依頼を受け、知財クリニックを開催しています。新聞やラジオにて知的財産に関するインタビューを受けることもあります。
2006年には、ベナー・シップリーのケンブリッジオフィス設立に中心となって貢献しました。

学歴
パゥエルは、マンチェスター大学物理学部を第一級の成績で卒業、その後ケンブリッジ大学にて、III-V族半導体デバイスにおけるメゾスコピック効果の研究を終え、物理学の博士号を取得。ロンドン大学クイーンメアリー校での知的財産法コースも終了。
